Main duties of the Research Officer are:
(a) To assist in undertaking researches on security-related matters, and on the political and current affairs as well as the socio-economic and legal systems of Hong Kong and the Mainland, and to write up reports/research papers based on the research findings and analysis;
(b) To assist in analyzing news relating to the work of SB on social media;
(c) To assist in drafting articles and speeches;
(d) To assist in drafting replies to public enquiries;
(e) To assist in the conduct of community engagement exercises;
(f) To assist in liaising with Government Bureaus/departments, community organizations, medias, and other stakeholders, as appropriate; and
(g) To perform any other duties as required by the Bureau.

Candidates should:
(a) have a bachelor degree or a master degree in mass communication/journalism or political science or other related disciplines from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent;
(b) have at least 5 years of post-qualification full-time working experience in the area of mass communication/journalism/public administration or related fields (working experience with government and public organizations, and research experience in Hong Kong and China studies would be an advantage);
(c) have strong communication and presentation skills and be able to communicate in English and Chinese effectively (both written and spoken) with internal and external stakeholders;
(d) have good understanding of the operation of the Government or public organizations, and the political, socio-economic and legal systems of Hong Kong and the Mainland (experience in liaising with the central and local authorities/community organizations, and in planning activities on major issues relating to the national development of our country would be an advantage)；
(e) have effective research skills, including the use of online resources; and
(f) be mature, self-motivated and able to work long or irregular hours.
