A Contract Field Inspector is mainly deployed on (a) assisting in conducting farm inspection, record and complete investigation report and collect samples for testing in registered Accredited Fish Farm Scheme fish farm; (b) assisting in routine maintenance of pond fish culture at Au Tau Fisheries Office; (c) carrying out water chemistry testing in the laboratory; (d) assisting in carrying out laboratory techniques related to fish disease investigation; and (e) performing other assigned duties. Note : Required to work in the New Territories and may have to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends, to stay overnight away from the base, and to spend time at sea on departmental or commercial vessels.

The applicant should have (a)(i) obtained a diploma or higher certificate in biology, biological science, environmental science, applied science or a related subject from a Hong Kong polytechnic or university or Institute of Vocational Education / technical college / institute, or equivalent; or (ii) obtained a recognized diploma from a post-secondary fisheries school/college, or equivalent and one year of relevant post-qualification experience; and (b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent. Note: For non-civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
