職責
工料測量師的主要職責是(a)擬備造價估計、招標文件（包括建築工料清單）、評標報告和合約文件； (b)執行合約後的工作，包括擬備中期證明書和財務報表、為更改工程進行量度和定價，以及議定最後決算；(c)編訂投標價格指數和成本標準；以及(d)執行技術審核職責。
A Quantity Surveyor is mainly deployed on (a) preparing cost estimates, tender documents including bills of quantities, tender reports and contract documents; (b) undertaking post-contract works including preparation of interim certificates and financial statements, measurement and pricing of variations, and agreement of final accounts; (c) compiling tender price index and cost yardsticks; and (d) performing technical audit functions.
入職條件
申請人必須(a)為香港測量師學會工料測量組正式會員，或具備同等資格；(b) 在取得有關資格後，具備最少一年從事工料測量工作的經驗；(c)在綜合招聘考試的能力傾向測試取得及格成績；以及(d)符合語文能力要求，即在綜合招聘考試兩張語文試卷(中文運用及英文運用)一級成績，或同等成績 [請參閱註(3)]。
Candidates should have (a) Corporate Membership of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors in Quantity Surveying Division, or equivalent; (b) at least one year’s post-qualification experience in quantity surveying; (c) a pass result in the Aptitude Test in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE); and (d) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 1 results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the CRE, or equivalent [See Note (3)].
入職條件(註)
(1)視乎當時的情況，具有較多經驗的人士，可能因為具備超出最低規定的工料測量工作經驗而獲給予額外增薪點。
(2)申請人若具備香港註冊專業測量師(工料測量組別)的資格，可獲優先考慮。
(3)綜合招聘考試的中文運用及英文運用試卷的成績分為二級、一級或不及格，並以二級為最高等級。
香港高級程度會考英語運用科C級或以上和D級成績(或同等成績)分別會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的二級和一級成績。香港高級程度會考中國語文及文化、中國語言文學或中國語文科C級或以上和D級的成績則分別會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試中文運用試卷的二級和一級成績。
在International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 學術模式整體分級取得6.5或以上，並在同一次考試中各項個別分級取得不低於6的成績的人士，在IELTS考試成績的兩年有效期內，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的二級成績。IELTS考試成績必須在職位開始接受申請的首天(即2012年6月1日)仍然有效。
(4)為提高大眾對《基本法》的認知和在社區推廣學習《基本法》的風氣，所有公務員職位的招聘，均會包括《基本法》知識的評核。申請人在基本法測試(學位/專業程度職系)的表現，會用作評核其整體表現的其中一個考慮因素，但不會影響其申請公務員職位的資格。原則上，申請人的學歷、經驗和才能仍然是考慮其是否適合被聘用的主要因素。
