(a) To assist in the coordination, planning, implementation and evaluation of the support services to be provided by the Language Learning Support Section; (b) To lead a team of officers in providing advisory and professional development support services to primary / secondary school heads, English panel heads and teachers to help them implement the curriculum reform with focuses on catering for learner diversity, facilitating students' smooth transition across key stages, fostering whole school language curriculum planning and curriculum leadership development; (c) To organise in-house professional development programmes; (d) To coordinate the dissemination of good practices in English Language learning and teaching and effective resources for use in primary / secondary schools; (e) To monitor research and development projects related to English Language learning and teaching in primary / secondary schools; and (f) To liaise with external institution / educational bodies to enlist their assistance in supporting English Language learning in Hong Kong.

(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree or equivalent in English Language and / or English Language education is essential, and a higher degree or equivalent in English Language and / or English Language education or related discipline is preferable [see Note (i)]; (b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution or equivalent is essential; (c) Met the language proficiency requirement of Level 2 or above in English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) [see Note (ii)], or equivalent; (d) At least 10 years' relevant post-qualification experience in teaching, supervision, resource management, conducting educational research, training or providing direct support to schools to enhance English Language learning [see Note (iii)]; and (e) Preference will be given to candidates who have: (1) Good knowledge of the local education system and the curriculum reform; (2) Knowledge of current trends in English Language education in both local and international settings; and (3) Proven leadership, excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
