Successful candidates will be deployed to various sections/offices in the Works Branch of the Development Bureau to undertake the following duties (Notes 3 and 4) – (a) to assist in examination and assessment of application submissions under funding schemes for public engagement projects and thematic research on built heritage conservation (the Funding Schemes) under the Built Heritage Conservation Fund (BHCF), and making recommendations on the feasibility / suitability of the proposed projects as well as the performance / outcomes of the completed projects; (b) to advise on the preparation of agreement with the successful applicants under the Funding Schemes and monitor the progress of the supported projects; (c) to liaise and work with engaged non-government organisations and working partners for launching thematic public programmes and research projects with the support of the BHCF; (d) to liaise and coordinate with grantees and government departments in the detailed arrangements of collaboration in public engagement projects with the support of the Funding Schemes; (e) to assist and coordinate with government departments for implementation of heritage policies and initiatives in relating to the BHCF; (f) to provide input for the production and updating of webpages and planning of promotion and publicity programmes for the Funding Schemes; (g) to plan and arrange research and production of roving exhibitions as well as other publicity materials for the Funding Schemes; and (h) to perform any other duties assigned.

Applicants should (Note 1) – (a) have bachelor’s degree or above from a university in Hong Kong (majoring in a relevant subject of Anthropology, Archaeology, Heritage Conservation, History, Geology, Geography, Ethnography, Museum Studies, Cultural Studies, Humanities), or equivalent; (b) have at least four years’ working experience in (i) conducting research projects, especially on local cultural heritage / local history / cultural studies; and/or (ii) planning and organisation of education and publicity programmes, especially on heritage education / cultural / public participation; (c) have met the language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 2’ results (Note 2) in the two language papers [Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE)] in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent; (d) have good proficiency in written Chinese and English and be fluent in spoken English and Cantonese; fluency in Putonghua will be an advantage; and (e) have good knowledge of heritage conservation / history of Hong Kong / public education and publicity.
