職責
科學主任(醫務)的主要職責是–
(a) 依據最新的國際發展及標準，為實驗室測試、疾病診斷及流行病學、抗菌素耐藥性、抗菌素使用或其他相關項目提供專業意見﹔
(b) 就任何與動物有關的重要新興疾病、或有重要公共衛生影響的人畜共患病的緊急事件作出迅速回應，快速開發及提供的新測試﹔
(c) 就無效的測試作出調查分析及提供意見﹔
(d) 為其他人員提供訓練，以提升其整體化驗檢測能力﹔
(e) 就生物安全和生物保安措施提供所需水平的科學支援及意見﹔
(f) 需要時建立和維持各實驗室的品質管理系統﹔
(g) 需要時展開內部審核，並擬定審核報告，以持續改進實驗室測試方法﹔
(h) 需要時支援其他實驗室人員進行實驗室測試及內部質量監控﹔
(i) 參與制定並實施針對農場動物及寵物的長期抗菌素耐藥性及抗菌素用量的監察系統；
(j) 對從抗菌素耐藥性及抗菌素用量的監察系統所收集的數據進行數字和統計分析、編制適時的報告、進行文献綜述及資料搜索並發放與本地和全球抗菌素耐藥性及抗菌素用量情況的最新信息並就指引和問卷調查的設計上提供技術支援；
(k) 就動物疾病、人畜共患病、化學物殘餘檢測及健康一體框架下的抗菌素耐藥性和抗菌素使用相關的調查研究與政府部門及其他機構聯絡﹔以及
(l) 執行上司委派的其他職務。

The Scientific Officer (Medical) is mainly deployed on –
(a) Providing advice on the latest international developments and standards in relation to laboratory testing, disease diagnosis, epidemiological situation, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) , antimicrobial use (AMU) or other relevant subjects;
(b) Developing new tests and provide a rapid capability for test adoption for any urgent new and emerging diseases of veterinary importance or zoonoses of public health importance concern;
(c) Providing advice where investigations are required for any failed testing;
(d) Providing training for other staff to improve the overall laboratory capacity when necessary;
(e) Providing the required level of scientific input into biosafety and biosecurity measures;
(f) Participating in the setting up and maintenance of the quality management system of various laboratories when necessary;
(g) Conducting internal audits and prepare audit reports for continuous improvement programme related to laboratory test methods when necessary;
(h) Supporting other laboratory staff in conducting laboratory tests and in-house control when necessary;
(i) Involving in establishment and implementation of the long term AMU and AMR surveillance programme in both farm animal and companion animal sectors;
(j) Performing numerical and statistical analysis on data collected from AMU and AMR surveillance programme, compiling timely reports, conducting literature review and information search and disseminating updated information on local and global situation of AMR and/or AMU and providing technical support to the design of guidelines and surveys;
(k) Liaising with government departments and other institutions in research studies relating to animal diseases and zoonoses, chemical residue testing, AMR and AMU under the One Health framework when necessary; and,
(l) Performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

入職條件
申請人必須–
(a) (i) 持有香港任何一所大學頒授的醫療化驗科學／微生物學／生物化學／生物信息學／生物科技／生物醫學／獸醫學／生命科學／流行病學或相關學科的碩士學位，或具同等學歷（註(1)）；或
(ii) 持有香港任何一所大學頒授的醫療化驗科學／微生物學／生物化學／生物信息學／生物科技／生物醫學／獸醫學／生命科學／流行病學或相關學科的學士學位，或具同等學歷，以及擁有兩年畢業後全職實驗室經驗或與以上所列科目相關研究的經驗；以及
(b) 符合語文能力要求，即在香港中學文憑考試或香港中學會考英國語文科考獲第2級或以上成績，或具同等成績。
註﹕
(1) 正在修讀最後一年碩士/ 博士課程的學生亦可申請，惟須取得所需學歷，方可獲得錄用。
(2) 按香港醫務化驗師委員會的登記冊第二部分註冊的應徵者會獲優先考慮。
(3) 或會獲派跟進人畜共患病相關的工作，例如2019冠狀病毒病及高致病性禽流感。
(4) 或須於新界偏遠地區輪班工作或不定時工作，包括晚上、週末及公眾假期。

The applicant should have (a) (i) a Master degree in Medical Laboratory Science/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology/ Biomedical Science/ Veterinary Science/ Life Sciences/ Epidemiology in a relevant field, from a Hong Kong university or equivalent (Note 1); OR (ii) a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology/ Biomedical Science/ Veterinary Science/ Life Sciences/ Epidemiology in a relevant field, from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent; and 2 years’ full-time post-graduate experience in a laboratory or in research relevant to the above subjects; and (b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in English Language in Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.
Note:
(1) Final year students in Master/ Doctoral degree may also apply. Their appointment will be subject to their successful obtaining the required qualification.
(2) Candidates with registration under Part II of the Register of the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board of Hong Kong are preferred.
(3) May be deployed to positions for handling duties related to zoonotic diseases such as COVID-19 and highly pathogenic avian influenza.
(4) May be required to work on shift in remote area of the New Territories and irregular hours including evenings, weekends, Sundays and public holidays.
