A Chief Steward in the Chief Justice’s Residence is mainly deployed on -

(a) running of the Chief Justice’s Residence (“the Residence”);

(b) managing and supervising the work of domestic staff in the Residence;

(c) managing and undertaking domestic work in the Residence, including cleaning and tidying-up indoor and outdoor areas, furniture, household articles and wares, laundry and ironing, etc.;

(d) undertaking work in relation to Judiciary events and functions held in or outside the Residence, including preparation of venue and serving of food and beverage to guests;

(e) arranging maintenance, stock-taking, repairing and replacement of household items and furnishings; and

(f) performing other domestic related duties assigned by senior officers.

A Chief Steward in the Chief Justice’s Residence is required to wear uniform, and to work irregular hours and overtime including evenings, weekends and public holidays. He / She may also be required to stay overnight in the Residence located at the Peak and work in times of inclement weather, if necessary. The Residence is accessible by public transport.

Candidates should –

(a) have at least nine years’ experience, of which at least five years in supervisory role, in –
(i) providing domestic service in a large household; or
(ii) food and beverage service in a large household or establishment (e.g. clubs, hotels or restaurants);

(b) be able to communicate in fluent Cantonese, simple English and simple Putonghua, and read and write Chinese and simple English; and

(c) have a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST) (below completion of secondary education level) (Note).
