The successful candidate may be deployed to waste facilities or construction sites to act as site representative of the Environmental Protection Department. The duties will include: (a) managing waste facilities/projects; (b) vetting design submissions from contractors; (c) monitoring progress and quality of construction works; (d) monitoring the environmental performance of contractors; (e) providing technical inputs on environmental, engineering, and financial assessments; and (f) assisting in communication with the public and liaison with other government departments in connection with development and operation of waste and related facilities. Other Job-related Requirements: The hours and venues of work may be varied having regarded to the operational needs of the department. The successful candidate may be required to (a) work irregular hours and overtime, including evenings and weekends; and (b) work occasionally outdoors.

Candidates should have – (a) Corporate Membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in relevant Civil or Environmental Discipline admitted on or after 5 December 1975, or equivalent; (b) at least five years’ full time relevant post-qualifications working experience in supervision of construction of civil engineering works or waste management facility projects at an appropriate level of responsibility and (c) met the language proficiency requirement of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (Note: ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth).
