The successful candidate will be required to provide professional support to the implementation of projects relating to daily air quality forecast. The main duties include –

• (a)analysing meteorological and air quality data to support air quality forecast and model enhancement;
• (b)assisting in the preparation of new air quality index system and data management;
• (c)responding to enquiries on air quality; and
• (d)processing/analysing air monitoring data and compilation of reports. (Notes: The hours and venues of work may be varied having regarded to the operational needs of the department. The successful candidate may be required to
• (a)work irregular hours and overtime, including evenings and weekends; and
• (b)work occasionally outdoors.)

Candidate should have –

• (a)a Hong Kong First or Second Class honours degree in a relevant science or engineering subject, or equivalent;
• (b)met the language proficiency requirement of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent

(Note: For non-civil service appointment purpose, “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 2” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth); (c) minimum three years relevant post-qualifications working experience at an appropriate level of responsibility relevant to environmental management or air quality management; (d) competence in communication skills; and (e) knowledge of and experience in air quality monitoring and air pollution control is an advantage.
