(a) To be responsible for the development of the curriculum for the key learning area of Chinese Language Education according to the direction set by the Curriculum Development Council; (b) to initiate, plan and conduct teacher professional development programmes on learning/teaching approaches and strategies of Chinese Language Education curriculum and related cross-curricular areas; (c) to direct collection, compilation and production of resources materials in support of the implementation of the Chinese Language Education curriculum and related cross-curricular areas; (d) to co-ordinate, facilitate and participate in research and development projects in relation to the Chinese Language Education curriculum; (e) to coordinate, plan and participate in various evaluation studies on the implementation of Chinese Language Education curriculum; (f) to provide professional advice on curricular matters relating to the curriculum for the key learning area of Chinese Language Education; (g) to collaborate with schools and other educational institutions, and (h) to perform administration and management duties.

(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree in Chinese Language subject, or equivalent; and a certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent [see Note (ii)]; (b) 'Level 2' results in the two language papers [Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE)] in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent [see Note (iii)]; (c) at least 10 years' relevant post-qualification experience in teaching and/or curriculum development in the subjects of Chinese Language / Chinese Literature/ Putonghua [see Note (iv)]; and (d) good communication, thinking and inter-personal skills. Preference will be given to candidates who possess a higher degree related to curriculum studies, or equivalent, or good command of Putonghua and/or experience in Putonghua education.
