A Scientific Officer (Medical) (Technology) is mainly deployed on – (a) providing support on pre-market registration and licensing related activities; (b) providing support on post-market surveillance, enforcement and investigation related activities; (c) providing support on review and development of standards, code of practice and compliance guidelines; (d) providing support on devising of checking mechanisms for enforcement of relevant statutory requirements; (e) providing support on review of technologies, research of regulatory requirements and projects implementation; and (f) providing support on consultation, liaison and education related activities. [Note: May be required to work irregular hours.]

Candidates should – (a) (i) have a Master degree in Applied Physics, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Medical Physics, Microbiology, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Medical Engineering or related disciplines from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent; or (ii) have a Bachelor honours degree in Applied Physics, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Medical Physics, Microbiology, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Medical Engineering or related disciplines from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent, with 2 years’ relevant post-graduate experience; (Note (1)); and (b) meet the language proficiency requirements of “Level 1” results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE) ) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent (Note (2)).
