Successful candidates will be appointed to work in the Legal Services Branch of the Land Registry and expected to:

• (a)give legal advice on matters relating to the Land Registration Ordinance (Cap. 128) and its subsidiary legislations and applications for registration of owners’ corporations under the Building Management Ordinance (Cap. 344);
• (b)conduct legal researches and assist in the review of the Land Titles Ordinance (Cap. 585) and the preparation of the Land Titles (Amendment) Bill and the subsidiary legislations, practice notes and guidelines; and
• (c)perform other duties as may be assigned by senior officers.

Candidates should:

• (a)be qualified solicitors or barristers in a recognized jurisdiction as stipulated under section 2A and Schedule 2 to the Legal Officers Ordinance (Cap. 87);
• (b)have at least 2 years' post-qualification experience in land law and conveyancing of landed properties. Experience in legal researches and familiarity with conveyancing practices in Hong Kong are clear advantages;
• (c)meet the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent.

(Note: For non-civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.); and (d) be fluent in English and Cantonese.
