Successful candidates will be deployed to the Commissioner for Heritage’s Office in the Works Branch of the Development Bureau to assist the following work (Note 4): (a) implementing projects for revitalisation of Government-owned historic buildings, including preparation of Invitation for Proposals, tendering documents, making applications for land use changes, assessment of the proposals/tenders received, liaison with the selected operators and government departments on the implementation of the projects, monitoring closely the progress of revitalisation works and assisting in drafting of tenancy agreements/specifications, etc.; (b) implementing new heritage conservation initiatives, including heritage impact assessment for new capital works projects, Financial Assistance for Maintenance Scheme for privately-owned graded historic buildings, Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme and proposals to preserve privately-owned graded historic buildings; (c) commenting on bureaux/departments’ documents on heritage conservation aspects, assisting in handling press and public enquiries and organising public engagement activities; (d) overseeing and managing the development of heritage conservation issues in public works projects and to monitor the physical conditions of historic buildings through regular inspections; (e) conducting research on the technical feasibility of various means of conservation and revitalisation of historic buildings; and (f) performing any other duties assigned as appropriate.

This position is open to both male and female. Applicants should (Note 2) – (a) be a (i) Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, or equivalent; or (ii) Corporate Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (Civil or Structural or Building Services Discipline) elected after 5 December 1975, or equivalent; or (iii) Corporate Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (Building Surveying or General Practice Division), or equivalent; (b) have at least 2 years’ post-qualification working experience in the relevant field including experience in handling building renovation projects; (c) meet the language proficiency requirement of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 3), or equivalent; (d) have good command of oral and written Chinese and English; and (e) have good communication and interpersonal skills.
