• (a)To assist the Regional NET Coordinating Team (RNCT) manager in planning, monitoring and evaluating the annual competitions for secondary students organised by the Team, including setting the direction, liaising with competition partners, planning and developing the related workshops, and providing administration support;
• (b)To assist the RNCT manager in planning and organising the annual Competitions Awards Ceremony;
• (c)To supervise a small team of two or three Regional NET Coordinators in the school-based support they provide for schools;
• (d)To organise and conduct centralised, regional and school-based professional development seminars and workshops for secondary English teachers, including NETs;
• (e)To develop materials and strategies which support the implementation of the English Language curriculum at the secondary level;
• (f)To act as a curriculum leader to support NETs and other English panel members in the development of a school-based English Language curriculum and the implementation of the recommendations from the relevant English Language curriculum documents published by the Education Bureau and the Curriculum Development Council;
• (g)To provide on-site support for schools participating in research and development projects;
• (h)To assist in collecting, compiling and analysing data on the deployment of NETs in secondary schools under the Enhanced NET Scheme;
  • (i)To perform administrative duties related to the day-to-day operation of the RNCT; and
• (j)To perform any other duties assigned.

Applicants should be native-speakers of English or have native-speaker English competence*, and should possess:

• (a)A Hong Kong bachelor's degree, preferably majoring in English, or equivalent;
• (b)A postgraduate certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution majoring in English, or equivalent;
• (c)A Master's degree in English Language Education, or equivalent is an advantage;
• (d)met the language proficiency requirements of Level 3 [See Note] or above in English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent;
• (e)At least 6 years' post-degree English teaching experience;
• (f)Experience in English Language Education curriculum development is an advantage;
• (g)Experience in promoting one or more of the following at the junior secondary level is an advantage: e-learning, differentiated instruction and information literacy;
• (h)Experience in coordinating inter-school English Language Education-related competitions is an advantage; and
  • (i)Good spoken and written English.

*Native speakers of English are people who acquire the language in infancy and develop the language through adolescence and adulthood within a community where English is spoken as the first language. Native-speaker English competence refers to the ability to use English fluently and spontaneously, to give grammatically accurate responses in communication and to write or speak creatively.

Non-native speakers of English are people who have not acquired the language in early childhood. They are also suitable for appointment as Project Officer II if their English competence is not different from that of native-speakers in terms of fluency, accuracy and creativity in language use.
