A Technical Officer Trainee (Architectural) is mainly deployed on undergoing a 3-year on-the-job training which would involve attending courses and on -
(a) preparing detailed drawings from rough sketches, site formation plans, site measurement drawings, layout plans, preparation of schedules, such as window, door, sanitary fittings and ironmongery;
(b) amending working drawings which show alterations and additions made during and/or after construction; and
(c) assisting in updating record drawings, as-built drawings of simple type of buildings, or part of the more complex buildings under supervision, as well as preparing management charts. [See Note (E)]

Candidates should have –
(a)(i) a Certificate in Building Studies from a Hong Kong polytechnic university/ polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education(IVE) or a technical institute/ college, or equivalent; or
(a)(ii) Level 3 or above in Mathematics and Level 2 or above in four other subjects including Physics or Combined Science (Biology & Physics) or Combined Science (Chemistry & Physics) or Integrated Science or Information & Communication Technology in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent (Note: The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language. Preference will be given to those who have Level 2 or above in Design and Applied Technology.); or Grade C or above in Mathematics and Level 2/Grade E or above in four other subjects including Physics or Computer and Information Technology in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE); or equivalent (Note: The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language. Preference will be given to those who have Grade E or above in Design and Technology.); and
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent. [See Notes (A) to (D)]
