A Senior Artisan is mainly deployed on operating, installing, maintaining and overhauling all classes of waterworks plant including the operation of machine tools in workshops.

(Note: May be required to undertake on-call, standby and emergency duties; to work outside normal working hours, in irregular hours and/or shifts; to work in remote areas, harsh conditions and/or at reservoirs; drive departmental vehicles under the self-drive scheme; and wear uniform and protective clothing.)

Candidates should have (a) (i) a craft certificate in electrical engineering / mechanical engineering / electronic engineering / civil engineering from a technical institute, or equivalent; or (ii) completed a full apprenticeship or other approved course of practical training in electrical engineering / mechanical engineering / electronic engineering / civil engineering plus at least 2 years' post-apprenticeship experience; or (iii) at least six years' experience in electrical engineering / mechanical engineering / electronic engineering / civil engineering; and (b) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard. (Note 1); and (c) will be required to pass a relevant trade test at an appropriate level (except those who meet the requirements under item (a)(ii) above).

(Note 1) : Applicants who fail to produce the documentary proof of attaining a level of proficiency in Chinese and English languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard, such as Hong Kong Primary 6 student report or certificate on completion of Primary 6 standard (a pass in Chinese and English subjects should be shown) or equivalent recognized qualification, will be required to attend and pass a language proficiency test arranged by the department.

(All qualifications/experience required should be obtained on or before the application deadline. Qualifications/experience obtained after the application deadline will not be considered.)
