To assist in the preparation of drafts of Government legislation (both Chinese and English); To conduct legal research in the drafting and legislative processes; To prepare notes of meetings; To assist in the preparation of various papers required in the legislative process; To perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Candidates should –

• (a)have a Bachelor in Laws or Juris Doctor degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent; and
• (b)have attained a Level 2 result in the Use of English paper and a Level 1 result in the Use of Chinese paper in the Common Recruitment Examination, or equivalent (Notes).

Experience in preparing legal documents or documents of similar technicality or complexity would be an advantage. (Remarks: Candidates will be required to pass a written test)

Notes :

• (a)The following results are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the Use of English paper of the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) :
  • (i)Level 5 or above in English Language of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE);
  • (ii)Grade C or above in Use of English of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE);
  • (iii)an overall band of 6.5 or above with no subtest score below band 6 obtained in the same sitting in the Academic Module of the International English Language Testing System within 2 years before the closing date for application.
• (b)The following results are accepted as equivalent to Level 1 in the Use of Chinese paper of the CRE :
  • (i)Level 4 in Chinese Language of the HKDSEE;
  • (ii)Grade D in Chinese language and Culture or in Chinese Language and Literature of the HKALE.
