The duties of the part-time SO(RO) are set out as follows –
(a) To provide scientific support for initial review of final reports of projects funded by the Health and Medical Research Fund (HMRF);
(b) To identify suitable non-local and local experts to conduct the two-tier peer review of the final reports, and follow up the assessments with the experts;
(c) To follow up and review the responses and revised final reports submitted by the applicants until the final reports are accepted by the fund;
(d) To advise the appropriate dissemination channel of the closed projects under HMRF; and
(e) To execute any other duties as assigned by seniors.

Candidates should –
(a) have a university degree or equivalent;
(b) have a PhD degree in health sciences or health-related subjects;
(c) have at least 2 years of working experience in reviewing research grant applications and reports as well as project management/research administration in the Government and/or public bodies;
(d) have at least 2 years’ post-qualification experience in management function/ respective profession/function of the post at Executive Officer I or equivalent level;
(e) have at least 4 years’ post-qualification experience in public health, health sciences, advanced medical and clinical research;
(f) be proficient in common office software (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Chinese word processing, and having good knowledge of information technology systems;
(g) have good communication and interpersonal skills;
(h) have good analytical and problem solving skills; and
(i) be responsible and self-motivated, have good organisation and time management skills, and able to work under pressure.
