A Supervisory Craft Technician (Part-time) is mainly deployed on (a) providing technical services and advices on matters relating to fisheries technology, fishing methods, gears and equipment, as well as operational requirements of fishing vessels; (b) conducting vessel inspections and providing technical advices on fishing vessels and operation in relation to the EGA for fishermen affected by marine works and trawl ban; (c) assisting in coordinating and conducting fishing surveys on assessment of the demersal and pelagic fisheries resources in Hong Kong waters after the implementation of trawl ban, as well as processing and analyzing data collected for the studies; and (d) assisting in planning and implementation of other studies related to fisheries resources enhancement, e.g. restocking programme.

The applicant should have (a) a 2nd class Marine Engineer Officer (Sea-going) Certificate of competency, or equivalent; (b) (i) Level 2 or equivalent (Note 1) or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; or (ii) Level 2 (Note 3) / Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; (c) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 (Note 3) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent; (d) eight years’ post-qualification practical experience in servicing the fisheries industry.
