A Structural Engineer is mainly deployed on designing and supervising the construction of structural framework, foundation, piling and site formation works for Government building projects and advising on maintenance to the structures of existing Government buildings; checking structural submissions prepared by consultants and carrying out project management duties as required. Candidates should - (a) be Corporate Members of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (Structural or Civil Discipline) elected after 5 December 1975, or equivalent (Note: For holders of qualifications in the Civil Discipline, experience in structural engineering design and practice is required. Candidates should clearly specify the discipline of their corporate membership and give a detailed account of their qualifications and experience in their application forms.); and (b) have a pass result in the Aptitude Test in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE); and (c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 1 results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the CRE, or equivalent [See Notes (A) and (B)].
