職責
土力工程師負責進行岩土工程研究、設計及施工監管，以及實施岩土工程管制；改良岩土工程標準及技術；提供顧問和合約管理服務；提供地質及岩土諮詢服務、場地勘探和物料測試、斜坡維修和山泥傾瀉緊急服務；以及監管礦務、採石及使用爆炸品的工作。獲取錄的申請人可能會派往其他部門工作[請參閱註(4)]。
A Geotechnical Engineer undertakes geotechnical studies, design and construction supervision and geotechnical control; improves geotechnical standards and technology; manages consultancies and contracts; provides geological, advisory, ground investigation and material testing, slope maintenance and emergency services; and controls quarrying activities and the use of explosives. Successful candidates may be posted to work in other Departments [See Note (4)].
入職條件
岩土組別：申請人必須：
(a)為香港工程師學會於1975年12月5日後所選取的正式會員(土木或岩土界別)，或同等資格[請參閱註(1)];及具備兩年岩土工程工作經驗；
(b)在綜合招聘考試的能力傾向測試中取得及格成績[請參閱註(2)]；以及
(c)符合語文能力要求，即在綜合招聘考試兩張語文試卷(中文運用及英文運用)中取得一級成績，或具同等成績[請參閱註(2)]。
地質組別：申請人必須：
(a)具備工程地質學或地質學認可專業資格，例如英國倫敦地質學會特許地質學家資格，或同等資格；並具備兩年工程地質學或地質學工作經驗；
(b)在綜合招聘考試的能力傾向測試中取得及格成績[請參閱註(2)]；以及
(c)符合語文能力要求，即在綜合招聘考試兩張語文試卷(中文運用及英文運用)中取得一級成績，或具同等成績[請參閱註(2)]。
For Geotechnical Stream:
Candidates should (a) possess Corporate Membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (Civil or Geotechnical Discipline) elected after 5 December 1975, or equivalent [see Note (1)]; and have 2 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering; (b) have a pass result in the Aptitude Test in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) [See Note (2)]; and (c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 1 results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the CRE, or equivalent [See Note (2)].
For Geologist Stream:
Candidates should (a) possess a recognized professional qualification in engineering geology or geology, or equivalent, such as Chartered Geologist status of the Geological Society of London, UK; and have 2 years’ experience in engineering geology or geology; (b) have a pass result in the Aptitude Test in the CRE [See Note (2)]; and (c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 1 results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the CRE, or equivalent [See Note (2)].
入職條件(註)
(1)為符合入職條件(a)項所載的要求，申請人如只持有非本地專業資格，應提交所需證明文件，證明該等資格等同本地有關專業資格，例如提供證據，證明申請人的資格在截止申請日期之前，已獲香港工程師學會接納為其會員（土木或岩土界別）。
(2)綜合招聘考試能力傾向測試卷的成績分為及格或不及格。
綜合招聘考試的中文運用及英文運用試卷的成績分為二級、一級或不及格，並以二級為最高等級。
政府在聘任公務員時，香港中學文憑考試中國語文科第5級或以上成績;或香港高級程度會考中國語文及文化、中國語言文學或中國語文科C級或以上的成績，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試中文運用試卷的二級成績。香港中學文憑考試中國語文科第4級成績;或香港高級程度會考中國語文及文化、中國語言文學或中國語文科D級的成績，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試中文運用試卷的一級成績。
香港中學文憑考試英國語文科第5級或以上成績;或香港高級程度會考英語運用科C級或以上成績;或General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) (GCE A Level) English Language科C級或以上成績，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的二級成績。香港中學文憑考試英國語文科第4級成績;或香港高級程度會考英語運用科D級成績;或GCE A Level English Language科D級成績，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的一級成績。
在International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 學術模式整體分級取得6.5或以上，並在同一次考試中各項個別分級取得不低於6的成績的人士，在IELTS考試成績的兩年有效期內，會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的二級成績。IELTS考試成績必須在職位申請期內其中任何一日有效。
(3)為提高大眾對《基本法》的認知和在社區推廣學習《基本法》的風氣，政府會測試應徵公務員職位人士的《基本法》知識。申請人在基本法測試的表現會佔其整體表現的一個適當比重。
(4)獲取錄的申請人將隸屬土木工程拓展署署長管理的職系，並可能由土木工程拓展署署長按當時適用的職位調派政策，派往不同部門服務。
(5)申請人須隨申請表格夾附綜合招聘考試/香港高級程度會考/IELTS考試成績證明、香港工程師學會會員(土木或岩土界別)或同等資格副本，以及以指定表格詳述其學術工作及相關工作經驗。該指定表格可於土木工程拓展署網頁http://www.cedd.gov.hk/eng/about/career/index.htm下載。沒有夾附所需文件副本的申請表概不受理。
