A Senior Music Officer (Musicianship) is mainly deployed to: (a) assist Chief Music Officer (CMO) in supervising the daily operation of musicianship training and aural & theory classes, and to submit reports and recommendations to CMO on development of the above training programmes; (b) oversee the arrangement of piano accompaniment for the annual Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) practical examination, Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, masterclasses and trainees’ concerts, and to undertake piano accompaniment responsibilities; (c) oversee the training and management of the Music Office Youth Choir and Music Office Children’s Choir, and to undertake conducting responsibilities whenever required; (d) plan music programmes for various Music Office activities; (e) supervise the daily operation of the music centres of the Music Office, and to coordinate the logistics support for the Instrumental Music Training Scheme including the recruitment exercise and internal assessment; (f) liaise with musicians, parents and outside organizations; and (g) oversee all administrative matters in the Musicianship/ Training Support Section and to supervise staff of the section. (Notes: May be required to work irregular hours.)

Candidates should – (a)(i) have an associate diploma in piano performing conferred by a recognized music institution through public examination, or equivalent; or (ii) have a diploma in music from a recognized institution with a major in piano, or equivalent; (b)have not less than 9 years’ full-time post-qualification working experience in aural, theory, and/or choral training, piano accompaniment and/or musicianship training in recognized institutions or organizations; (c)have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [see Note (i)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and (d)be able to speak fluent Cantonese.
