A Contract Associate Veterinary Technician is mainly deployed on (a) performing laboratory tests by following laboratory work instruction and operating procedures; (b) assisting Laboratory Supervisor in the validating laboratory methods and developing new laboratory method according to NATA / IOS 17025 guideline; (c) preparing, revising and updating laboratory manuals and standard operation procedures under supervision; (d) checking sample identification and qualification compliance to sample registration procedure; (e) performing data entry and sample log-in to the laboratory information system; (f) assisting Senior Veterinary Officer or Veterinary Officer to conduct physical inspection to the horses at site; (g) assisting Laboratory Supervisor to maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, placing and expediting orders for supplies; (h) consolidating and preparing necessary information and preparing official health certificate for export shipment of horse; (i) supervising laboratory assistants and junior technicians; and (j) performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Candidates should (a) be undertaking/have completed a qualification recognized by the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board such as a diploma in medical laboratory science or biomedical science, or equivalent; (b) have documented ongoing training and education in veterinary or medical laboratory science or biomedical science directing to a professional certification for professional practice, for example, approved courses to the Medical Technologist Board registration; (c) eligible to be registered in Hong Kong as a medical laboratory technologist; (d) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (Note: “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 2” respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.); and (e) be conversant with computer software applications e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Chinese word processing.
Note : (1) Candidates must be able to speak fluent, read and write Chinese and English competently. (2) Candidates with 1 year of working experience in veterinary or medical laboratory is preferred.
