(i) Assistant Building Services Inspectors are mainly deployed on operation and maintenance of systems and equipment, improvement projects / works and facility management; procurement, project management and technical consultancy services; law enforcement, regulatory services and advisory services; and supervision of junior staff.
(ii) Successful candidates may be posted to other departments and may be required: (a) to work irregular hours / in remote areas / in harsh conditions; (b) to perform shift duty / stand-by duty / on-call duty / emergency duty; (c) to wear uniform / protective clothing; and (d) to perform any other duties as specified from time to time. Successful candidates may also be required to perform self-drive duty (training will be provided where necessary) on a voluntary basis.

Candidates should have (a) a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Installation or Building Services Engineering from a Hong Kong polytechnic university / polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or a technical institute / technical college, or equivalent; (b) at least three years’ relevant post-qualification experience; (c) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [Note (1)]; and (d) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test [Note (2)]. Preference will be given to candidates who have (i) relevant installing, operation and maintenance experience in building services engineering systems inside a building or structure; and (ii) acquired a recognized safety and health supervisor training.
