A Senior Artisan is mainly deployed to perform the following types of work at government construction waste reception/handling facilities and mud disposal areas in the Civil Engineering Office of this Department - (a) leading a team of Artisans in supervising and monitoring the operations of government construction waste reception/handling facilities and mud disposal areas, including waste reception, inspection, handling, stockpiling, uploading and off-loading activities; (b) supervising Workmen in cleaning the wheels of dumping vehicles; (c) supervising tipping and leveling operations under direction; and (d) assisting in compiling the materials output or intaking records, checking of materials delivered, carrying out supervision and inspection of non-structural concrete works, earthworks and other minor civil engineering works, and report defects and repairs required. (Note: Successful candidates may be required to (i) perform emergency, stand-by, on-call and shift duties and work irregular hours; (ii) work in remote areas and/or rigorous conditions; and (iii) drive a departmental vehicle under the self-drive scheme.)

Candidates should have (a)(i) a craft certificate in the field of construction from a technical institute, or equivalent; or (ii) completed a full apprenticeship or other approved course of practical training in the field of construction plus at least 2 years’ post-apprentice/training experience in the trade; or (iii) at least six years’ experience in construction work; (b) passed a relevant trade test at an appropriate level; and (c) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard.
