To be deployed in the Civil Division of the Department of Justice to undertake litigation and/or advisory work on areas including but not limited to matters related to drafting and advising on commercial documents, taxation, statutory appeal boards, disciplinary boards, land, building and planning matters. The post holder is expected to assume a higher level of responsibilities and be able to work independently, and will be required to undertake litigation/advisory work of a more difficult and complex nature.

Candidates should

• (a)
  • (i)be solicitors with at least 6 years’ professional experience since admission in Hong Kong or any one of the recognised jurisdictions as stipulated under Section 2A and Schedule 2 of the Legal Officers Ordinance; or
  • (ii)be barristers with at least 7 years’ professional experience since attaining the right to full practice in Hong Kong or any one of the recognised jurisdictions as stipulated under Section 2A and Schedule 2 of the Legal Officers Ordinance; and
• (b)have attained Level 2 or above in English Language and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent

(Note: For non-civil service appointment purpose, Grade E in English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to Level 2 in English Language and Chinese Language in the 2007 HKCEE or henceforth.). Candidates with less working experience (a minimum of 4 years’ professional experience for solicitors or 5 years’ professional experience for barristers) may also apply.
