動物管理督察的主要職責包括：(a)實施和執行法例，包括《公眾衞生(動物及禽鳥)條例》(第139章)、《貓狗條例》(第167章)、《防止殘酷對待動物條例》(第169章)及《狂犬病條例》(第421章)等；(b)進行有關收集相關罪案的資料和證據的執法行動，分析收集所得的資料或證據，根據初步調查採取執法行動，並處理檢控個案；(c)協助處理公眾投訴，收集和整理有關法定職責的統計資料，備存準確的記錄和電腦數據庫，並擬備所需報告；(d)計劃和推行宣傳活動(包括於網上刊登廣告)及(公開和內部)教育活動；(e)協助記錄開支和妥善進行採購、貯存、使用和處置必要物品和設備；(f)舉辦教育活動；(g)於學校和屋苑舉行講座；以及(h)執行其他與工作有關的職務。
職責
An Animal Management Inspector is mainly deployed on
- (a)implementing and enforcing the laws including the Public Health (Animals and Birds) Ordinance, Cap 139; the Dogs and Cats Ordinance, Cap 167; the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance, Cap 169 and the Rabies Ordinance, Cap 421, etc.;
- (b)conducting enforcement operations that involve collecting information and evidence regarding relevant crimes, analysing the information or evidence obtained, performing enforcement activities based on initial investigation and processing prosecution cases;
- (c)assisting in handling complaints from the public, collecting and compiling statistics of the statutory functions, maintaining accurate records and computer database, and preparing for necessary reports;
- (d)planning and implementing publicity events (including posting advertisements on the internet) and educational (public and internal) activities;
- (e)assisting in recording expenditure and performing proper acquisition, storage, use and disposal of necessary stores and equipment;
- (f)organising educational activities;
- (g)presenting seminars to schools and estates; and
- (h)performing any other job related duties.

- (a)
- (i)持有本港理工學院或大學或專業教育學院／工業學院／科技學院頒發的農業科學、生物學、應用生物學、化學、應用化學、生態學、環境科學或環境管理學文憑或高級證書，或具同等學歷；或(ii)持有農業或林務學校／學院頒發的認可文憑，或具同等學歷；(b)在香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科取得第2級或以上成績，或具同等學歷；(c)具備最少一年相關工作經驗；(d)具備操作個人電腦軟件(包括MS Word、Excel、PowerPoint簡報和中文輸入法)的簡單知識；(e)能於戶外工作，並或須不定時工作及執行隨時候召或候命職務；以及(f)能處理貓、狗、爬行類和家禽等動物。申請人如具備兩年處理動物的工作經驗，可獲優先考慮。 <br>(註：2007年前的香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科(課程乙) E級成績，在行政上會分別被視為等同2007年或之後香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科第2級成績。)
Candidates should
- (a)
- (i)have a diploma or higher certificate in Agricultural Science, Biology, Applied Biology, Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Ecology, Environmental Science or Environmental Management from a Hong Kong polytechnic or university or Institute of Vocational Education / technical college / institute, or equivalent; or
- (ii)have a recognized diploma from an agricultural or forestry school/college, or equivalent;
- (b)have attained level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKCEE, or equivalent;
- (c)have at least one year relevant work experience
- (d)have simple knowledge of PC software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint Presentation and Chinese character input, etc.;
- (e)be able to work outdoors and may be required to work irregular hours, perform on-call or stand-by duties; and
- (f)be able to handle animals such as dogs, cats, reptiles and poultry. Preference would be given to candidates with two years animal handling work experience. <br>(Note : “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 2” respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.)
