職責
驗船主任（航海）主要負責以下專業層面的工作：
(a) 執行與商船有關的條例所規定的法定及其他相關職務，計有海上安全、防污、保安、海員福利和管理，當中包括調查意外事故、審核香港註冊船舶及其公司；
(b) 主持所有級別的甲板高級船員合格證書考試；以及
(c) 執行政府航海顧問的職務。
[註：所有驗船主任（航海）均須前往外地執行檢驗或審核職務。]

A Surveyor of Ships (Nautical) is mainly deployed on the following types of work at the professional level :
(a) undertaking statutory and other related duties under the Merchant Shipping Ordinances pertaining to maritime safety, pollution prevention, security, seafarers welfare and management including casualty investigations and audits on Hong Kong registered ships and their companies;
(b) conducting examination for all classes of deck officers’ certificates of competency; and
(c) undertaking duties as a nautical consultant for the Government.
[Remarks: All Surveyors of Ships (Nautical) are required to travel abroad to carry out surveys or audits.]

入職條件
申請人必須：
(a) 持有本港大學頒授而海事處處長接納與海事領域相關的學士學位或同等學歷[請參閱註(1)]；
(b) 持有海事處處長簽發的一級（甲板高級船員）（商船船長）合格證書或其接納的證書；
(c) 具備兩年擔任遠洋船大副或更高職級，又或於相關航海業內擔任同等要職的經驗[請參閱註(2)]；以及
(d) 符合語文能力要求，即在香港中學文憑考試或香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科考獲第2級或以上成績，或具同等成績[請參閱註 (3)]。

Candidates should have :
(a) a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline relating to the maritime field from a university in Hong Kong or equivalent, acceptable to the Director of Marine [See Note (1)];
(b) a Certificate of Competency (Deck Officer) Class 1 (Master Mariner) issued by or a certificate acceptable to the Director of Marine;
(c) two years’ experience as Chief Officer or above on sea-going ships or at equivalent responsible levels in the nautical related industry [See Note (2)]; and
(d) met the language proficiency requirements of “Level 2” or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note (3)].

(1) 未具備上文第(a)段指明所需學歷的申請人，如現為應屆畢業生，亦可申請。申請人必須於獲聘時取得所需學歷資格才獲考慮聘任。
(2) 未具備上文第(c)段指明所需經驗的申請人，如預計會於2019年8月或以前累積所需經驗年數，亦可申請，但必須於獲聘時在經驗年數方面符合要求才獲考慮聘任。
(3) 政府在聘任公務員時，2007年前的香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科(課程乙)E級成績，在行政上會被視為等同2007年或之後香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科第2級成績。
(4) 為提高大眾對《基本法》的認知和在社區推廣學習《基本法》的風氣，政府會測試應徵公務員職位人士的《基本法》知識。申請人在基本法測試的表現會佔其整體表現的一個適當比重。
