(a) To plan, develop and evaluate the Chinese Language curricula at the primary and secondary levels;
(b) To plan, develop and provide in-service professional development programmes and resource materials for Chinese Language, Chinese Literature and Putonghua teachers to facilitate the implementation of the curricula and other curriculum initiatives;
(c) To plan and organise curriculum support and student activities (including student competitions, reading carnivals);
(d) To take part in conducting and monitoring curriculum innovation programmes, projects, research and evaluation;
(e) To plan and conduct curriculum development visits to support schools in their development and implementation of Chinese Language, Chinese Literature and Putonghua curricula;
(f) To review Chinese Language, Chinese Literature and Putonghua textbooks and learning packages;
(g) To provide subject-related professional services and to participate in subject-related committees and task groups within and/or outside the Education Bureau;
(h) To develop, promote and implement language enhancement measures, and promote Chinese culture;
(i) To perform administrative duties related to the day-to-day operation of the Chinese Language Education Section; and
(j) To undertake any other duties assigned.

(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree, majoring in Chinese, or equivalent [see Note (ii)];
(b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent [see Note (ii)];
(c) At least 10 years' relevant post-qualification [as specified in (a) and (b)] experience in Chinese Language teaching and/or curriculum development [see Note (iii)];
(d) Met the language proficiency requirements of 'Level 2' results in the two language papers [Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE)] in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent [see Note (iv)];
(e) A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test [See Note (v)]; and
(f) Preference will be given to candidates who have 1) a Hong Kong higher degree in Chinese Language, curriculum development, educational management or a related discipline, or equivalent [see Note (ii)], and/or 2) experience as a curriculum leader or school leader (such as Vice-Principal, Head of Academic Affairs, School Master/Mistress of Curriculum Development, Head of Chinese Language Panel) or relevant experience in coordinating teaching Chinese to non-Chinese speaking students [see Note (iii)].
