職責
水務化驗師的主要職責是:(a)督導組內/水質科學化驗室的工作及人員，進行化學、細菌、生物和輻射化驗，監察水質，控制水務設施的濾水處理過程並提供意見；(b)進行水質分析，就水安全、水質或濾水處理問題的各個方面進行調查；(c)進行輻射測量，監測水質，就法定程序提供意見，處理放射性物質和放射防護的相關事宜；(d)為化驗室和外勤工作的人員提供訓練；及(e)執行總水務化驗師指派的其他工作。
A Waterworks Chemist is mainly deployed on (a) supervising the work and staff of unit/water science laboratory, conducting chemical, bacteriological, biological and radiological examinations, monitoring water quality, advising on and controlling of treatment processes at waterworks installations; (b) carrying out water analysis and investigating into various aspects of water safety, water quality or treatment problems; (c) undertaking radiation measurement and monitoring of water quality, advising on statutory procedures, handling of radioactive substances and radiological protection matters; (d) training staff in laboratory and field work; and (e) performing other duties as assigned by the Chief Waterworks Chemist.

(i) 持有本港任何一所大學頒授的一級或二級榮譽化學學士學位，或具備同等學歷，而修畢的學分或完成的試卷最少有二分之一為化學科目；以及
(ii) 持有本港任何一所大學頒授的化學碩士學位，或具備同等學歷；
(b) 在綜合招聘考試的能力傾向測試中取得「及格」成績(見註項(a))；
(c) 符合語文能力要求，在綜合招聘考試兩張語文試卷(中文運用及英文運用)中取得「一級」成績，或具備同等成績(見註項(a)) ；
及
(d) 在《基本法及香港國安法》測試取得及格成績(見註項(b))。

Candidates should have -
(a) (i) a First or Second Class Honours degree in Chemistry from a Hong Kong university or equivalent with at least 2/3 of the total number of units or papers taken in Chemistry; and
(ii) two years' relevant post-graduate experience in chemical testing or chemistry related field;
OR
(i) a First or Second Class Honours degree in Chemistry from a Hong Kong university or equivalent with at least 1/2 of the total number of units or papers taken in Chemistry; and
(ii) a Master degree in Chemistry from a Hong Kong university or equivalent;
(b) a pass result in the Aptitude Test (AT) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) (See Note (a));
(c) met the language proficiency requirements of 'Level 1' results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE)) in the CRE or equivalent (See Note (a));
(d) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law test (See Note (b)).
