The successful candidate will be required to

• (a)devise strategic plan and detailed programmes for promotion of waste reduction at source and recycling;
• (b)promote the sustainable development of the recycling industry; and
• (c)communicate with the recycling industry, bureaux/departments, committees and other stakeholders on matters related to waste reduction and recycling.

(The hours and venues of work may be varied having regard to the operational needs of the department.)

Applicants should have –

• (a)a Hong Kong degree with honours in a relevant science or engineering subject, or equivalent;
• (b)at least 15 years’ full time post-qualifications working experience in the areas of waste reduction and recycling, waste processing, waste facilities/ landfill management and/ or sustainable development, among which at least 6 years should be at managerial level;
• (c)strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and
• (d)excellent knowledge and experience in waste reduction, recovery/recycling and waste facilities management and the related practices in Hong Kong and overseas.
