(a) To maintain a computer simulation system for outdoor air ventilation assessment of development proposals; (b) to conduct air ventilation assessment and assess impacts of development proposals on the outdoor wind environment by computer simulation with reference to the Technical Guide for Air Ventilation Assessment for Developments in Hong Kong; (c) to provide professional comments and advices, prepare reports and attend meetings (including those for statutory and non-statutory bodies) in evaluating air ventilation assessment or related submissions arising from development proposals; and (d) to prepare training materials and provide trainings to professional grade officers for discharge of the above or related duties.

The following are the basic requirements: (a) a bachelor’s degree or above from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent, in Civil, Mechanical, Structural, Environmental, Aeronautical or Building Services Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Science, Physics, Environmental Science and Studies, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology or relevant fields; and (b) at least 3 years’ post-degree working experience in computational fluid dynamic simulation and analysis of wind flow on building developments and physical environment; relevant post-degree working experience of at least 3 years in building physics will also be considered. Preference will be given to candidates who have: (c) experience in computer hardware and software system integration combined with wind tunnel modeling knowledge applicable to outdoor air ventilation assessment; (d) recognized training in computational fluid dynamic simulation; and/or (e) corporate membership of a local recognized professional institution or equivalent in the relevant fields as mentioned in paragraph (a) above.
