The main duties include (a) promoting environmental protection, conservation, sustainable development and waste reduction; (b) managing the Community Relations Unit; (c) providing secretarial support to the Environment and Conservation Fund Committee and the Environmental Campaign Committee; and (d) managing the environmental resources facilities. (Note : The hours and venues of work may be varied having regard to the operational needs of the department.)

Candidates should have – (a) a Hong Kong degree with honours in a relevant science or engineering subject, or equivalent; (b) at least 15 years’ full time post-qualifications working experience in the areas of environmental protection, among which at least 7 years should be at senior managerial level; (c) strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and (d) excellent knowledge of the history and current state of environmental protection and its development in Hong Kong. Experience in waste management, good knowledge in the operations of the Government or public organisations as well as funding scheme management would be an advantage.
