職責
警察二級翻譯主任主要負責在警署、刑事辦公室或其他警隊單位/組別擔任翻譯、傳譯及擬備控訴書工作。

A Police Translator II is mainly deployed on performing translation, interpretation and preparation of charge sheets duties in Police Stations, Crime offices or any other Formation/Unit as required.

入職條件
申請人必須(a)(I)(i)在香港中學文憑考試五科考獲第2級或同等或以上成績,或具同等學歷;或(I)(ii)在香港中學會考五科考獲第2級/E級或以上成績,或具同等學歷;並具備三年翻譯及傳譯或經常講寫英語的工作經驗;或
(a)(II)持有香港其中一所理工學院/理工大學頒發的翻譯/傳譯高級文憑,或註冊專上學院在其註冊日期後頒發的中國語文/英國語文文憑,或具同等學歷;或
(a)(III)持有香港高等院校頒發並獲認可的翻譯/傳譯或中國語文/英國語文副學士學位,或具同等學歷;
(b)英文打字速度每分鐘達30字;
(c)符合語文能力要求,即在香港中學文憑考試或香港中學會考中國語文科及英國語文科考獲第3級或以上成績,或具同等成績;及能操流利普通話(能通過部門主持的普通話考試);以及
(d) 在《基本法》測試取得及格成績。

(2) 申請人須通過筆試方獲挑選接受普通話考試/英文打字速度測驗/面試;
(3) 政府會測試所有應徵公務員職位人士的《基本法》知識。在《基本法》測試取得及格成績,是學歷要求定於完成中學階段程度或以上但低於學位/ 專業程度的公務員職位的入職條件。申請人必須在《基本法》測試中取得及格成績方會獲考慮聘用。如在滿分100 分中取得53 分或以上( 即在15 題中答對8 題或以上),會被視為取得《基本法》測試的及格成績。此外,申請人在《基本法》測試的成績會佔其整體表現評分的一個適當比重。如申請人在申請公務員職位時仍未曾參加《基本法》測試或未曾在《基本法》測試考獲及格成績,仍可作出申請。他們會被安排在招聘過程中參加相關《基本法》測試;
(4) 申請人如獲邀參加翻譯筆試,會獲安排於翻譯筆試當日參加基本法知識筆試。基本法知識筆試會於翻譯筆試結束後舉行。]

(d) 在《基本法》測試取得及格成績。

(a)(I)(i) Level 2 or equivalent or above in 5 subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent; or (I)(ii) Level 2/Grade E or above in 5 subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; plus 3 years’ experience in jobs involving either translation and interpretation work or the frequent use of written and spoken English; OR
(a)(II) a higher diploma in translation/interpretation from a Hong Kong polytechnic/polytechnic university or a diploma in Chinese/English from a registered post-secondary college awarded after the date of its registration, or equivalent; OR
(a)(III) an accredited Associate Degree in translation/interpretation or in Chinese/English from a Hong Kong tertiary institution, or equivalent;
(b) English typing speed of 30 words per minute;
(c) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent; and fluency in Putonghua (be able to pass a Putonghua Examination administered by the Department); and
(d) a pass result in the Basic Law Test.
[Notes :
(1) The subjects in (a)(I) above may include Chinese Language and English Language;
(2) Candidates will be required to pass both tests before they are selected for Putonghua Examination/English typing test/interview;
(3) All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their Basic Law knowledge. A pass result in the Basic Law Test is an entry requirement for civil service jobs requiring non-degree / non-professional qualifications at or above completion of secondary education level. Only those candidates who have passed the Basic Law Test will be considered for appointment. Attaining a score at or above 53 out of the full mark of 100 (i.e. getting at least 8 out of 15 questions correct) will be deemed to have a pass result in the Basic Law Test. The Basic Law Test result will also constitute an appropriate weighting in a candidate’s overall assessment. For candidates who have not taken the Basic Law Test or have not attained a pass result in the Basic Law Test at the time of application, they may still apply for the job and arrangements will be made for them to take the Basic Law Test during the recruitment process;
(4) Candidates who are invited to attend the translation test will be assessed on their BL knowledge through a written test to be conducted after the translation test on the same day.]
