職責
視光師的主要職責為-
(a)以主觀及客觀技術為學前及學齡兒童測試視力,包括使用診斷藥物;
(b)提供視光護理服務,特別是折光矯正(包括處方及驗配隱形鏡)、雙目鏡視力訓練、視力加強訓練,以及弱視護理服務;
(c)與其他專業人士合力策劃視光服務及處理視力有問題的病人;
(d)參與視光學研究及研製/建立評估方法,推行及參與健康促進活動和健康教育計劃/項目,並就視光和視覺服務進行演講及授課;及
(e)執行相關的行政工作。

An Optometrist is mainly deployed on –
(a) evaluating visual functions of preschool and school-age children by subjective and objective techniques, including the use of diagnostic drugs;
(b) providing optometric care, especially refractive corrections (including prescription and fitting of contact lenses), binocular training, visual skills enhancement training, and low vision care;
(c) working together with other professionals in the planning of optometry service and in handling patients with visual problems;
(d) participating in optometric research and development/ setting up of assessment tools, conducting and participating in health promotion activities and health education programmes/ projects, and giving talks and lectures on optometric and visual service; and
(e) performing related administrative duties.

入職條件
申請人必須-
(a)根據香港法例第359章輔助醫療業條例視光師名冊第I部分註冊;
(b)持有視光師管理委員會發給的有效執業證書;及
(c)符合語文能力要求,即在香港中學文憑考試或香港中學會考中國語文科及英國語文科考獲第2級或以上成績,或具同等成績〔註(1)〕;以及能操流利粵語和簡單英語。
Candidates should have -
(a) registered in Part I of the Register of Optometrists under the Supplementary Medical Professions Ordinance, Chapter 359;
(b) a valid Practising Certificate issued by the Optometrists Board; and
(c) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (Note (1)); and be able to speak fluent Cantonese and simple English.
入職條件(註)
(1)政府在聘任公務員時,2007年前的香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科(課程乙) C級及E級成績,在行政上會分別被視為等同2007年或之後香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科第3級和第2級成績。
(2)為提高大眾對《基本法》的認知和在社區推廣學習《基本法》的風氣,所有公務員職位的招聘,均會包括《基本法》知識的評核。應徵者如獲邀參加筆試/面試,會被安排於筆試/面試當日參加基本法知識筆試。應徵者在基本法知識測試的表現,會用作評核其整體表現的其中一個考慮因素,但不會影響其申請公務員職位的資格。原則上,申請人的學歷、經驗和才能仍然是考慮其是否適合被聘用的主要因素。
