Mainly deployed on – (a) messengerial duties, such as indoor and outdoor delivery and collection of documents and other articles, etc; (b) manual labour duties, such as cleansing, moving office furniture and equipment, loading and unloading of stores and supplies items, assisting in the setting up of venues for meetings and functions, etc; (c) general office and miscellaneous duties, such as photocopying, handling letters and fax messages, sorting/binding documents, simple filing, manning reception counter, handling conference room bookings, opening and locking up office doors, recording the use of paper and stationery items, replacing carboys for water dispensers, operating office equipment and machines, answering simple enquiries, supervising the work of security and cleansing contractors, office patrolling for security and building maintenance, etc; and (d) pantry duties, such as providing tea service, cleaning tea urns, cleansing and tidying work, etc. Remarks: Workmen II may be required to work shifts, irregular hours, overtime and outdoors, and return to office to perform duties in adverse weather conditions or emergency situation. They are subject to posting and transfer within the bureau/department to which they are appointed. Remarks (for Transport Department): Duties in (b) above include cleansing of controller cabinets outdoors.

The post is open to both male and female applicants. Candidates should be – (a) able to communicate in Cantonese/Chinese and simple English; (b) able to read simple Chinese and simple English; (c) able to write simple Chinese or simple English; and (d) physically fit for outdoor and labour work (Note: Candidates will be required to pass a trade test. )
