An Assistant Music Officer I (Musicianship) is mainly deployed to:
(a) teach musicianship, aural and theory training classes and to liaise with parents of trainees; to assist Music Officer (Musicianship) [MO(M)] in the preparation of training materials;
(b) serve as piano accompanist in different music activities organised and/or supported by the Music Office;
(c) serve as conductor/assistant conductor/manager/accompanist of Music Office choirs;
(d) assist MO(M) in the planning, development and review of training curriculum and syllabus, class scheduling and training-related undertakings;
(e) assist in the supervision of part-time instructors and accompanists; and
(f) assist in the co-ordination of arrangements for audition and recruitment of trainees.

(Note: Members of the grade – (i) May be required to work irregular hours; and (ii) are subject to posting and transfer within their respective streams at the discretion of the Head of Grade / Department.)

Candidates should –
(i) have an associate diploma in piano performing conferred by a recognized music institution through public examination, or equivalent; or
(ii) have a diploma in music from a recognized institution with a major in piano, or equivalent;
have not less than 3 years’ full-time post-qualification working experience in aural, theory, and/or choral training and/or piano accompaniment in recognized institutions or organisations;
have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [see Note (i)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and
be able to speak fluent Cantonese.
