A Technical Officer Trainee (Architectural) is mainly deployed on undergoing a 3-year on-the-job training which would involve attending courses and on - (a) preparing detailed drawings from rough sketches, site formation plans, site measurement drawings, layout plans, preparation of schedules, such as window, door, sanitary fittings and ironmongery; (b) amending working drawings which show alterations and additions made during and/or after construction; and (c) assisting in updating record drawings, as-built drawings of simple type of buildings, or part of the more complex buildings under supervision, as well as preparing management charts. Candidates should have – (a)(i) obtained a Certificate in Building Studies from a Hong Kong polytechnic university / polytechnic or the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) / technical institute / technical college, or equivalent; or (ii) Grade C or above in Mathematics and Level 2 / Grade E or above in four other subjects including Physics or Computer and Information Technology in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (Preference will be given to those who have Grade E or above in Design and Technology.) (Note: The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language.); and (b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKCEE, or equivalent.
