Major duties include: (a) providing laundry and cleaning services such as sorting, washing and ironing of clothing and soft furnishings; (b) assisting in domestic services such as replacing linens, repair and alteration of clothing and soft furnishings, needlework; and (c) operating cleaning and laundry machines and equipment, and maintaining all equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition; checking and reporting the condition regularly. (Note 1: Domestic Staff V are required to (a) work overtime and irregular hours including evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays; (b) wear uniform and (c) be deployed to work in Government House, Fanling Lodge and any other places as required. Note 2: For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the recruitment interview will be tested orally on their BL knowledge during the recruitment interview. Results of BL assessment will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.)

Candidates should: (a) have knowledge of domestic work in a large household, hospitality or hotel establishment. Experience in operating laundry and cleaning machines and equipment is an advantage; and (b) be able to speak fluent Cantonese and simple English; read and write simple Chinese and English; ability to speak simple Putonghua is an advantage.
