工料測量師主要獲派執行以下與建築或工程項目有關的職務─(a)履行工料測量職務的合約前及合約後的工作，例如費用預算、建築工料清單、合約文件、標書評審和投標報告、工程臨時估價、最後帳目結算及申索；(b)向政府部門及半政府機構提供專業意見；(c)負責進行相關職務，例如對選定項目進行技術審核、委聘和管理顧問，以及研究和發展；(d)執行所需的工程策劃管理職務；及(e)監督受僱進行與上述工作有關職務的初級人員。[請參閱註(E)]
職責
Quantity Surveyors are mainly deployed on executing the following duties on architectural or engineering projects –
- (a)performing pre-contract and post-contract aspects of quantity surveying duties, e.g. cost estimates, bills of quantities, contract documents, tender assessment and reporting, interim valuation of works, settlement of final accounts and claims;
- (b)providing professional advice to various Government Departments and quasi-government organizations;
- (c)undertaking related duties, e.g. technical audit on selected projects, employment and management of consultants, and research and development;
- (d)performing project management duties as assigned; and
- (e)supervising junior staff employed on any duties connected with the above. [See Note (E)]
入職條件
申請人必須─(a)為香港測量師學會工料測量組會員或具備同等資格；以及(b)在取得資格後在工料測量方面至少有一年工作經驗；以及(c)在綜合招聘考試能力傾向測試試卷取得及格成績；以及(d)符合語文能力要求，即綜合招聘考試兩張語文試卷 (包括中文運用及英文運用)取得一級成績，或同等成績。[請參閱註(C)及(D)]
Candidates should –
- (a)be Corporate Members of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) in the Quantity Surveying Division, or equivalent;
- (b)have at least one year’s post-qualification experience in quantity surveying;
- (c)have a pass result in the Aptitude Test in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE); and
- (d)have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 1 results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the CRE, or equivalent. [See Note

入職條件(註)
- (A)視乎當時的情況，具有較多經驗的人士，可能因為具備超出最低規定的工料測量工作經驗而獲給予額外增薪點。
- (B)現時任職建築署並屬工料測量師職級的公務員所遞交的申請，一般不會獲得考慮。
- (C)綜合招聘考試能力傾向測試試卷成績分為及格和不合格，而中文運用及英文運用試卷的成績分為二級、一級或不及格，並以二級為最高等級。香港高級程度會考英語運用科C級或以上和D級成績（或同等成績）分別會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試英文運用試卷的二級和一級成績。香港高級程度會考中國語文及文化、中國語言文學或中國語文科C級或以上和D級的成績則分別會獲接納為等同綜合招聘考試中文運用試卷的二級和一級成績。在 International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 學術模式整體分級取得6.5或以上，並在同一次考試中各項個別分級取得不低於6的成績的人士，在 IELTS 考試成績的兩年有效期內，會獲接納為已符合工料測量師職位英文語文能力要求[即入職條件的
- (d)項]。IELTS 考試成績必須在職位開始接受申請的首天（即二零一三年三月一日）仍然有效。
- (D)為提高大眾對《基本法》的認知和在社區推廣學習《基本法》的風氣，所有公務員職位的招聘，均會包括《基本法》知識的評核。申請人在基本法測試(學位╱專業程度職系)的表現，會用作評核其整體表現的其中一個考慮因素，但不會影響其申請公務員職位的資格。原則上，申請人的學歷、經驗和才能仍然是考慮其是否適合被聘用的主要因素。
- (E)受聘人或會調派於決策局或其他政府部門工作。
