A Chainman in the Survey and Mapping Office is mainly deployed on (a) assisting Survey Officers and/or Land Surveyors in carrying out surveying work in the field; (b) using of minor survey equipment/tools for execution of surveying tasks in the field; (c) undertaking the preparation, care, repair and maintenance, transportation and safeguard of survey equipment, tools and materials for field survey operations; (d) maintaining the order and cleanliness of survey stores; and (e) assisting in the training of Workmen II. (Note : A Chainman may be required to (i) work irregular hours; and (ii) work outdoor in heavy traffic, hilly or rugged areas and in inclement weather conditions.)

The post is open to both male and female candidates. Candidates should (a) have not less than 2 years' relevant experience in land/engineering survey; and (b) have attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard.
