A Technical Officer (Civil) is mainly deployed on the following types of work (a) preparing civil engineering drawings, project displays and presentation works; (b) making calculations, designs, and plotting related to engineering surveys and minor civil engineering works; (c) assisting in maintaining computer based information systems and departmental Homepage; and (d) assisting in the training of junior staff. (Note : Selected candidates may be posted to other Government departments; and may be required to work shifts or irregular hours, perform outdoor duties, and perform emergency and on-call duties during typhoon, severe weather conditions and other emergency events.)

(a) obtained a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Building Studies from a Hong Kong polytechnic university / polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) or a technical institute / technical college, or equivalent; and (b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) [Note(1)], or equivalent.
