A Chainman is mainly deployed on (a) assisting members of the Survey Officer or the Land Surveyor grades to carry out survey work in the field; (b) carrying out simple surveying work independently in the field; (c) undertaking the preparation, care, maintenance and transportation of survey equipment, tools and materials for field survey operations; and (d) maintaining the order and cleanliness of the survey store. (Note: Successful candidates appointed may be required to (i) work irregular hours; and (ii) work in construction sites, densely vegetated slopes, heavy traffic, hilly and remote areas, onboard survey vessels, at height, under inclement weather and rough sea conditions.)

Candidates should have (a) 2 years' relevant experience in land/engineering survey; and (b) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard.
