A Dental Officer is mainly deployed on giving dental care and performing administrative duties at dental clinic or dental unit in hospital or other institutions under the Department of Health [See Notes (3) & (4)].

Candidates should – (a) have been registered in Hong Kong under the Dentists Registration Ordinance; (b) have a valid practising certificate issued by the Dental Council of Hong Kong; (c) have met the language proficiency requirements (LPRs) of “Level 1” results in the two language papers [Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE)] in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent [See Notes (1) & (2)]; and (d) be able to speak fluent Cantonese and English. Remarks: (i) Candidates who are expected to meet the entry requirements as stated in item (a) above in 2014 may also apply. (ii) Candidates without the requisite CRE results in UC and UE as stated in item (c) above but having met the other entry requirements and will take the CRE to be held in June 2014 may also apply. However, they will only be considered for appointment subject to their obtaining the requisite result in the aforesaid CRE. They should indicate “Will attend CRE in June 2014” in Section I (Public Examination Results) under “Academic Attainment” in Page 2 of their application form.
