A Senior Artisan is mainly deployed on performing the following types of work at public fill reception facilities in the Civil Engineering Office - (a) leading a team of Artisans in the supervision of public filling operations, and supervising Artisans in the collection and stamping of disposal delivery forms; (b) supervising Workmen in cleaning the wheels of dumping vehicles; (c) supervising tipping and leveling operations under direction; and (d) assisting in compiling the earthworks output or intaking records, checking materials delivered, carrying out supervision and inspection of non-structural concrete works, earthworks and other minor civil engineering works, and reporting defects and repairs required. (Note: Successful candidates may be required to (i) perform emergency, stand-by, on-call and shift duties and work irregular hours; (ii) work in remote areas and/or rigorous conditions; and (iii) drive a departmental vehicle under the self-drive scheme.)

Candidates should have (a)(i) a craft certificate in the field of construction from a technical institute, or equivalent; or (ii) completed a full apprenticeship or other approved course of practical training in the field of construction plus at least 2 years’ post-apprentice/training experience in the trade; or (iii) at least 6 years’ experience in construction work; and (b) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard.
