獸醫師主要負責調查、診斷、控制和預防動物疾病及人畜共通病；監察和提升動物福利；檢驗進出口的動物及動物產品；以及發牌和執行相關法例。 <br> <br>(註: 可能須不定時及輪班工作；被調派往其他部門如食物環境衛生署及康樂及文化事務署；在新界地區工作；以及駕駛部門車輛。)
職責
A Veterinary Officer is mainly deployed on investigation, diagnosis, control and prevention of animal diseases and zoonoses; monitoring and enhancement of animal welfare; inspection of animals and animal products for import and export; and licensing and enforcement of relevant legislation. <br> <br>(Note: May be required to work irregular hours and shifts; be posted to other departments such as Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and Leisure and Cultural Services Department; work in the New Territories; and drive a departmental vehicle.)
入職條件
申請人必須： <br> <br>
- (a)具備根據香港法例第529章《獸醫註冊條例》可以在香港註冊為獸醫的資格(註二)；以及 <br>
- (b)符合語文能力要求，即在香港中學文憑考試或香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科考獲第2級或以上成績，或具同等成績(註三)。
Candidates should have – <br> <br>
- (a)a veterinary qualification registrable in Hong Kong under the Veterinary Surgeons Registration Ordinance, Cap. 529 (Note 2); and <br>
- (b)met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (Note 3) .

- (1)正在修讀最後一年課程的大學生亦可申請，惟須取得所需資歷，方可獲得錄用。 <br>

- (3)政府在聘任公務員時，2007年前的香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科(課程乙)C級及E級成績， 在行政上會被視為等同2007年或之後香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科第3級和第2級成績。
