• (1)To assist Building Services Engineer (Building Improvement) [BSE(BI)] in checking Fire Services Installations (FSIs) design reports;
• (2)To provide comments on drawings submitted by Authorized Persons (APs), consultants and Registered Fire Service Installation Contractors (RFSICs);
• (3)To co-ordinate all engineering matters associated with the provision/improvement of fire safety measures in various types of buildings and prescribed commercial premises;
• (4)To process the alteration and improvement plans submitted by APs, consultants and RFSICs regarding FSIs in connection with the Fire Safety (Buildings) Ordinance and the Fire Safety (Commercial Premises) Ordinance;
• (5)To attend meetings with the public, other government departments, APs, RFSICs and consultants and give advice on engineering details of FSIs;
• (6)To supervise the work of Building Services Engineering Assistants and Senior Technical Officers; and
• (7)To carry out any other duties in relation to the FSIs drawings.

The candidates should – obtain a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering from a Hong Kong polytechnic university / polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or a technical institute / technical college, or equivalent; possess not less than 24 years of relevant experience inclusive of 20 years or more post-qualification experience in building construction projects; meet the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (See Note); and possess general office computer skills.
