驗船主任（船舶）主要負責以下專業層面的工作：
- (a)執行與商船有關的條例所規定的法定及其他相關職務，計有海上安全、防污、保安、海員福利和管理，當中包括調查意外事故、審核香港註冊船舶及其公司；以及
- (b)就建造新船和政府船隊維修事宜，執行政府造船工程師的職務。
註：所有驗船主任（船舶）均須前往外地執行檢驗或審核職務。
職責
A Surveyor of Ships (Ship) is mainly deployed on the following types of work at the professional level -
- (a)undertaking statutory and other related duties under the Merchant Shipping Ordinances pertaining to maritime safety, pollution prevention, security, seafarers welfare and management including casualty investigations and audits on Hong Kong registered ships and their companies; and
- (b)undertaking duties as a naval architect for the Government on the construction of new vessels and maintenance of the Government Fleet.
Remarks: All Surveyors of Ships (Ship) are required to travel abroad to carry out surveys or audits.
入職條件
申請人必須：
- (a)持有本港大學頒授的造船學或相關科技學士學位或同等學歷；
- (b)取得海事處處長接納的造船工程師學會正式會員資格；
- (c)在取得正式會員資格後累積兩年相關工作經驗[請參閱註(1)]；
- (d)符合語文能力要求，即在香港中學文憑考試或香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科考獲第2級或以上成績，或具同等成績[請參閱註(2)]；以及
- (e)在《基本法及香港國安法》測試取得及格成績[請參閱註(3)]。
Candidates should have -
- (a)a Bachelor’s degree in naval architecture or related technology from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent;
- (b)a corporate membership of a naval architect institution acceptable to the Director of Marine;
- (c)two years’ relevant experience after obtaining the corporate membership [See Note (1)];
- (d)met the language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 2’ or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note (2)]; and
- (e)a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test [See Note (3)].
入職條件(註)
- (1)未具備上文第(c)段指明所需經驗的申請人，如現正致力取得所需經驗年數，亦可申請，但必須於獲聘時在經驗年數方面符合要求才獲考慮聘任。
- (2)政府在聘任公務員時，2007年前的香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科(課程乙)E級成績，在行政上會被視為等同2007年或之後香港中學會考中國語文科和英國語文科第2級成績。
- (3)政府會測試所有應徵公務員職位人士的《基本法》及《香港國安法》知識。在《基本法及香港國安法》測試取得及格成績是所有公務員職位的入職條件。申請人必須在《基本法及香港國安法》測試中取得及格成績方會獲考慮聘用。如申請人在申請公務員職位時仍未曾參加相關的《基本法及香港國安法》測試或未曾在相關的《基本法及香港國安法》測試考獲及格成績，仍可作出申請。他們會被安排在招聘過程中參加相關《基本法及香港國安法》測試。
