A Senior Artisan (General Duties) is mainly deployed on –

(a) deputising Amenities Assistants in charge;
(b) supervising Artisan (General Duties) and other junior staff on –
(i) gardening work, tree maintenance and planting;
(ii) caring of birds and animals;
(iii) minor maintenance of equipment and tools; and
(iv) plant propagation;
(c) training of Artisan (General Duties) and other junior staff; and
(d) assisting in law enforcement and maintenance of order.

[Notes: Successful candidates should note the following –
(i) they are required to work 45 hours net per week (excluding meal breaks);
(ii) they are subject to posting and transfer, and required to work in remote areas (including outlying islands) at the discretion of the Head of Grade/ Department;
(iii) they are required to wear uniform;
(iv) they may be required to perform shift duties and work irregular hours (including on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays). Actual working hours will be arranged by supervisors;
(v) they may be required to operate tractor and horticulture/ arboriculture machinery;
(vi) they may be required to undergo in-service training and related assessment; and
(vii) they may be required to perform outdoor duties.]

Candidates should –

(a) have completed Primary 6 education, or equivalent;
(b) have five years’ working experience in at least one of the following fields –
(i) gardening;
(ii) arboriculture;
(iii) bird and animal-keeping;
(iv) groundsmanship; or
(v) nursery practices;
(c) demonstrate the potential or ability to supervise staff;
(d) have attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Primary 6 standard; and
(e) have a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test.
