A Dental Surgery Assistant is mainly deployed on –

• (a)assisting the Dental Officers in the dental clinics or units in the treatment of patients; and
• (b)sterilising and supplying dental materials and undertaking other related duties in the dental clinics or units.

(Remarks: Appointee is required to wear uniform whilst on duty and may be required to work outside normal working hours.)

Candidates should –

• (a)
  • (i)have Level 2 or equivalent (Note 1) or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; or
  • (ii)have Level 2 (Note 3) / Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 2), or equivalent;
• (b)have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 (Note 3) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent; and
• (c)be able to speak fluent Cantonese.

(Remarks: Candidates who have obtained the Certificate of Proficiency in Dental Surgery Assisting awarded by the Prince Philip Dental Hospital, or have passed the probationary examination for Dental Surgery Assistant run by the Department of Health or the then Medical and Health Department, or equivalent, may have an advantage.)
